Oncotarget: Introducing New Cancer Treatments

Mikhail Blagosklonny and Mr. Gudkov created Oncotarget, an online medical journal which aims to provide new information about oncology. They decided to create the online medical journal because of the calls coming from scientists worldwide who are requesting for a system where they can upload their discoveries for other scientists to see. Oncotarget was made public in 2010, and since its introduction to the public, the website has been visited a million times. Oncotarget is unique because of its peer review feature, which allows several people from the scientific community to review every article that is being submitted by the readers, who are mostly oncologists themselves. Check the journal at SCImago Journal & Country Rank. Oncotarget releases two articles every week, and all of these articles are going under the careful screening of scientists who are working in different research facilities and educational institutions around the world. Mikhail and Andrei are oncologists themselves, working for the Roswell Park Cancer Institute. They are also known for other researches, including the use of rapamycin to combat aging and to gain eternal life. Mr. Mikhail and Mr. Andrei dedicated so much of their time and energy to develop Oncotarget, and they are hoping that the scientists would use the online medical journal responsibly. As Oncotarget’s editors in chief, Mikhail Blagosklonny and Mr. Gudkov have the freedom to choose which articles should be published based on the information in the written in the article submitted. One of the latest articles that were published in Oncotarget states about one of the newest treatment developed for people who are suffering from cancer. The treatment was developed inside a laboratory, and its effectiveness is nearly 100%. Scientists described the treatment as remarkable and having potential, because of its unusual approach to cancer cells. During the experiment, the scientists have brought a living tumor and placed it inside a piece of equipment which can detect the healthy body cells from the cancer cells. The equipment managed to identify the two, and it started to eradicate the cancer cells. The remaining cancer cells were later eliminated by aggressive white blood cells, and it cleared the tumor from any cancer cells. Scientists are now studying the application of the treatment to patients, seeing if it would be successful.
